NYC reconceived

Wow. What/where *is* that?! It's rather surreal... How big a replica is it? Is it built to scale?

I love the contrast in this photo of the flowers in the foreground - so big & real - against the tiny buildings in the middle silhouetted against the real-size large trees in the background. Sort of a variation on Lilliput.

It's at Legoland. We went on Tuesday. (Damian had a great time.)

Most of the buildings are built on a 1:20 or 1:40 ratio, though they cheat and do something completely wacky with the Empire State Building (1:20 on the ground floors, then 1:40, then 1:60, then finally 1:80).

It was very cool, though the Lego San Francisco felt more like the real thing to me. Maybe a result of the buildings they chose; I have a somewhat tourist-informed sense of SF but a resident's view of NY.
