Bragging.

About an encounter Saturday afternoon that led me to contemplate one of the differences between being a parent of a child with special needs and the other kind. Uncomfortable.

Oooh... interesting perspective!

You're right that the mother was insensitive. And you're right that parents in general do go on and on about their kids. There should have been more sharing between you and her, not just her talking and you listening.

But... At the same time, I'm uncomfortable with the social rule that says you must never talk about anything your kid does that outshines anyone else's kid (especially if it's an intellectual skill).

I don't know.

I'll see if I can articulate better what I'm thinking and post it over on my blog (rather than using up all your comment space!).
